BUDDHA’S SAYINGS SATIPATTHANA
-
This is the only path for
the realization of Nibbana.
-
The satipatthana can be called ‘a heap of merit’ (kusala rasi)
-
The sublime Dhamma does not last long after the passing away of the
Enlightened One when his disciples give up the practice of the Satipatthana.

The sublime Dhamma does not last long after the passing away of the

-
Just as, monks, the river Ganges flows, slides and tends to the East, so a
monk, by cultivating and making much of the fourfold satipatthana flows,
slides and tends to Nibbana.
-
The cultivation of the fourfold satipatthana results in the utter annihilation
of ‘Desire’ (the source of misery in this world). While observing body within
body, the desire in the body is dissipated. While observing sensations with
sensations, the desire in sensations is dissipated. While observing mind
within mind, the desire in the mind dissipated. While observing mental
constant within mental contents, the desire in the mental contents is
dissipated. Thus, there is total annihilation of ‘desire’ with the practice of
the fourfold satipatthana.
-
While observing body within body, there is completed knowledge about the body
and as a result, the Deathless is realized. While observing sensations, there
is complete knowledge about sensations and as a result, the Deathless is
realized. While observing mind within mind, there is complete knowledge about
mind and as a result, the Deathless is realized. While observing mental there
is complete knowledge about mental contents and as result, the Deathless is
realized.
-
Meditators those for whom you have feelow-feeling, those who may deem you
worth listening to, your friends and colleagues, your relatives, your blood
relations, -they ought to be roused for, admonished and established in, the
cultivation of the fourfold satipatthana.
-
If a meditator is diligent in the practice of the fourfold satipatthana, he is
safe from the attacks of Mara.
