The cultivation of the fourfold satipatthana results in the utter annihilation of ‘Desire’ (the source of misery in this world). While observing body within body, the desire in the body is dissipated. While observing sensations with sensations, the desire in sensations is dissipated. While observing mind within mind, the desire in the mind dissipated. While observing mental constant within mental contents, the desire in the mental contents is dissipated. Thus, there is total annihilation of ‘desire’ with the practice of the fourfold satipatthana.
